Michael was born in 1786. His parentage has been open to much study with little conclusion. The general impression is that he is the son of a Henry Stracener born about 1760, possibly an immigrant from Germany.[citation needed] Other claims that he was born or married in South Carolina are unsubstantiated.
Two of his sons (Jefferson and Lewis) both say he was born in Tennessee. The other two children who were alive (John and Elizabeth) say he was born in Alabama.
The first objective record located so far is Michael' record of a license to marry Elizabeth Brasher issued in Roane County, Tennessee 20 April 1807. "Zaza Brasher" signed the marriage bond with Michael "Straisner".[1]
Death
Michael wrote a gift deed naming several family members, in 1856 White county Arkansas, but also recorded in St Clair Alabama.
[2]
The recording dates suggest death about 1855-1856 in Arkansas.
There is a FindAGrave entry but it has no headstone photo or sources for the data - this unsourced data is widely quoted. [4]

His mother was Henry Stracener's first wife. He and his wife's permanent home was in St. Clair County, Alabama. But for reasons yet unexplained, Michael Stracener, without his wife [ no, he may have gone ahead, but his wife Elizabeth was enumerated with him in 1850 - then again later, back in Alabama] or children, moved in 1843 to White County, Arkansas (Searcy, Arkansas). At the outbreak of the Civil War Michael's sons began moving west to Arkansas. According to Shelley Woods' GEDCOM database on ancestry.com: Birth: 1786 in S. Carolina -(what source?
