Biography

Littleton Baker was born on 14 May 1811 in Gwinnett County, Georgia, United States, son of John Monroe Baker Sr. and Amelia (Brawner) Baker.

Littleton married Martha Adeline Morgan on 17 October 1831 in Gwinnett Co. Georgia. Their children were:

  3. William Lafayette Baker
  4. Sophronia Emmaline (Baker) Teague
  5. James Moses Baker
  6. Daniel S.C. Baker
  7. Martha Ann (Baker) Alexander

  9. Cynthia Adeline (Baker) Treat
  10. Charles Newton Baker
  11. Amanda Caroline (Baker) Reece
  12. John Littleton Baker
  13. Rispy E. (Baker) Richardson.

Littleton married Abigail Campbell in 1860. Their children were:

  2. Asbury Napolean Baker
  3. Rebecca Baker
  4. Hattie Baker
  5. Horace Greeley DeWitt Baker.

Littleton died on 24 June 1892 in Wileys Cove, Searcy County, Arkansas aged 81. He is buried in Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Searcy County, Arkansas.

Obituary

Littleton Baker one of our oldest and most respected citizens died the 24th inst. at his residence in Wiley's Cove at the age of 81 years one month and 10 days.

The subject of this sketch was born in Gwinett Co. GA, May 14, 1811. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church in the year 1850. he came to AR in 1853 and settled at Big Flat in what is now Baxter county. He was one of the commissioners who located the town of Burrowsville (now Marshall) in 1956. He was the father of eighteen children, fifteen of whom are still living. He was married four times, his fourth wife survives him. He ever lived a consistent Christian and died in full hope of a Blessed Immortality.[1]
