The couple had 8 children: Sarah Matilda Beckwith, Jane Louise Beckwith, Edward T Beckwith, Clement Ledger Beckwith, Susan Emily Beckwith, Thomas Curtis Beckwith, Margaret Snyder Beckwith and William Vinton Beckwith.
Sarah died at the age of 50 on 28 July 1854 in Port Matilda, Centre, Pennsylvania, United States.
