Biography

Emma Malvina Baxter was born on 31 Jan 1849 at New York, USA.^[1] She appeared on the census of 27 Aug. 1850 in the household of her parents, Giles Haram Baxter and Phebe Ann (Gregory) Baxter, at Colchester, Delaware Co., New York.^[2] She appeared on the census of 3 Aug. 1860 in the household of her parents at Colchester, Delaware Co., New York.^[3]

She married John Backus Neff, son of Asa Neff and Elizabeth (--?--) Neff, on 20 Sep 1866.^[4]

She and John appeared on the census of 10 Aug. 1870 at Colchester, Delaware Co., New York.^[5] She and John appeared on the census of 30 June 1880 at Colchester, Delaware Co., New York.^[6] She and John appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 at Colchester, Delaware Co., New York.^[7] She appeared on the census of 4 May 1910 in the household of her son-in-law, Henry Barnhart, and her daughter, Emma (Neff) Barnhart, at Colchester, Delaware Co., New York.^[8]

Emma died on 27 May 1913^[1] at age 64 and was buried at Baxter Neff Cemetery, Colchester. Her memorial has a photo of a lovely stone monument with her and her husband's names.^[9]
