William was born about 1767. He was the son of David Quarles and Judith Unknown. He passed away after May 1835.^[1]

Marriage

William Quarles married Mary "Polly" Lamb on 12 Jan 1788 in Botetourt County, Virginia.Consent was give by Archibald Lamb and Polly Lamb on 11 Jan 1788. Surety was given by James Dishman. Witnessed by James Poindexter (deputy clerk). Witnesses for the marriage were James Godman and William Dishman.^[4][5]

William signed his will on 15 May 1835 in Coffee County, Tennessee.^[1]

Research Notes

• Originally there was a profile for a David Quarles connected to David Quales and Judith Unknown as well as an unattached profile David Qualls (now merged into David Quarles) with same birth and death dates as the above William but married to a Nancy Stroud who had no information added. With research I have determined that the spouse of Nancy was born about 1818, so have removed the merged profiles. BJS
• As far as the middle name of the above William Quarles, originally this profile showed William John Quarles. The FAG profile lists him as William David Quarles.^[6] At the moment, two additional. profiles with John Quarles/Qualls as the name show as William's brothers. As William is the only name showing in "official" records, I removed his middle name for now. BJS
• Death date on Find A Grave is stated as 1837. In the biography area of the profile, the will is said to have been probated about 1837. I found no source listing the exact date for the will to be entered into probate so have used the death date as "after May 1835" when the will was signed. BJS
• There are no sources listed for the original 18 Jan 1764 birth date given for William. I have removed it until we find a source for that date. BJS
