Biography

Samuel Hinckley was a son of Samuel Hinckley Sr (1670-1751) & Martha (Lathrop) Hinckley (1677-1737). He was born probably 4 Mar 1706 in Barnstable, Massachusetts, however some uncertainty about his place of origin is evident in an online database which presents only Connecticut birth record citations (images not available) ^[1].

He married first, 22 Jan 1730 in Stonington, Connecticut, Zerviah Breed, with whom he had one child ^[2]:

After the death of his first wife, 14 Jun 1731, Samuel Hinckley married second, Dec. 30, 1736, Mary Wyatt ^[3]. They had 11 children:

Note: The Wheeler History of Stonington alleges that after his second wife, Mary Wyatt, died, this Samuel Hinckley married for his third wife Mary Bacon, Dec. 13, 1761. No evidence to support that premise has yet been put forth. Rather it was his son, Samuel Hinckley who married Mary (Vincent) Bacon on Dec. 13, 1761.
