Private Hugh McMillin served with Ninety-Six District Regiment, South Carolina Militia during the American Revolution.

Capt. Hugh McMillin was born June 6, 1746 in Inveresk with Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, the son of Robert McMillin and Jean Cummine. He wa christened on 15 June 1746. [1]
Capt. Hugh McMillin served in the Militia on horseback and on foot under Captain's Parsons, Wood, James Hamilton in 1779, 1780, 1781 and 1782. In addition did duty in the Indian Lands under Colonel Roebuck. [2]
Hugh married Jane McDowell. They had the following children:[3]

- Robert Love McMillin 1795-1873
