Biography

Alice Fuller was born on 22 February 1741 in Windham, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Stephen Fuller and Hannah Moulton.

She first married John Abbott on 4 November 1762 in Windham, Connecticut. He was born in 1741 and was killed by Indians near his Pennsylvania home in 1778. His death left Alice destitute. She was compelled to walk 300 miles back to her former home in Hampton, Connecticut with her 9 surviving children. During the trip they depended on charity for subsistence.

Alice returned to Plains, Pennsylvania several years later and second married Stephen Gardner about 1785. He was the son of Stephen Gardner (1704-1783) and Frances Congdon.

3. Celinda Abbott b. 20 May 1766 CT, d. 2 Dec 1854, PA. She married Reuben Taylor 1759-1849. Children: John Abbott Taylor 1791-1867.
4. Stephen Abbott b. 6 Dec 1767, CT, d. 19 Jun 1770, Ashford, CT. Buried in Ashford, CT.
5. Charles Abbott b. 3 Jun 1769, CT, d. 1853, Delaware Co, Ohio. He married Lorana Manville. Children: Charles Jr, Caroline, Lyman and Lorana.
6. Stephen Abbott b. 19 Apr 1771, CT, d. 22 Jul 1853 PA? He married Abigail Searl 14 Jul 1799. She was b. 25 Jun 1779, d. 2 Jun 1842. Children: John (1800), William (1802), Lucy (1805-1806), Elizabeth (1806), Stephen (1809), Charles b./d. 1814.

Alice died on 1 June 1816 in Plains, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Alice and Stephen are buried together in Gore Burial Plot, Plains, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA.
