Nancy "Ann" PARK was born in Rhode Island on September 28, 1776, the daughter of Abigail Chapman Park and husband John Park. [1]

Marriage and Children In 1795 she married Capt. Green PENDLETON on January 12, 1795, in Belfast, Maine. He was her first cousin. Following the birth of their first child, Nancy, he purchased the land where their home, "Fairwinds," now stands from William Taylor of Boston for $5.00. Nancy was followed by daughters Abigail and Catherine. Then their sons were born; their five eldest sons all became Master Mariners who, in the days of American sailing ships, carried our flag throughout the seven seas. Two didn't return from voyages. John died at sea. Charles later died in Havana. Sons Green, Jr., and Benjamin. Charles and Christopher returned. Note that Capt. Green Pendleton had two wives; Ann Park was the first.

She died on October 6, 1839, in Waldo, Maine, at the age of 63, and was buried in Searsport, Maine.

Children of Green Pendleton I, Capt. and Ann “Nancy” Park are:

Nancy Pendleton, 1797-1863. Married likely James Stowers rather than William Nichols.
Abigail Pendleton 1800-1881.
Catherine Pendleton 1802-1879. Married William Walker Clifford. See page 55, last paragraph of "Searsport Sea Captains" by Col. F.F. Black.
Green Pendleton, Jr., Capt 1804-1874 Searsport, Maine.
John Park Pendleton 1807-1847 (died on Schooner Mary Brooks.)
Benjamin Pendleton II 1810-1851.
Charles Nelson Pendleton 1813-1862.
Christopher L. Pendleton 1816-1854.
James Hervey Pendleton, 1819-1908 Prospect (Searsport) Maine.

Capt. Green Pendleton's youngest son, James Hervey Pendleton (My GGGrandfather), complied with his father's wishes, and stayed ashore to farm instead of following the seas as others had done. James farmed the land and succeeded to the estate upon his father's death in 1863.

Fairwinds has been a Bed and Breakfast located at 428 E. Main St., Searsport, Maine. My husband and I enjoyed staying there a few years ago. So very nice!
