Biography

Amos Carrier, the son of Richard and Thankfull, was born at Colchester, New London, Connecticut, on 3 July 1722.^[1][2]

On 6 June 1745, Amos Carrier married Phebe Kneeland/Neland at Colchester.^[1] Amos and Phebe had the following children recorded at Colchester:

• Thankfull, b. 28 March 1746
• Amos, b. 18 April 1748
• Rachel, b. 4 Nov 1750
• Ammaziah (son), b. 17 July 1754
• Mehetable, b. 9 Nov 1756

• Phebe, b. 21 March 1758 at Hebron (A Phebe Carrier was born at Hebron on 21 May 1758 to James and Phebe Carrier.^[3])

The following children are included in various family trees, but their birth records have not been found:

• Amariah (son), b. 17 July 1754 (twin to Amaziah)^[4]
• Dorcas, b. 1761
• Unnamed child, b. 1764
• Asa, b. 22 Feb 1766 at Gill, Franklin, Massachusetts

The estate of Amos Carrier was entered into probate at Hebron in 1793, and Elihu Marvin was appointed Administrator of his estate on 26 April 1793. A listing of his debts was entered on 25 Nov 1793. His estate was settled on 27 Jan 1795, and it was worth only £37 0s 5p, after payment of his debts of about £13. Some of his estate was distributed to his widow.^[5]
