Biography

Eliezer Tobey was born in Sandwich 02 Jan 1699/1700, and resided there. He was a fence-viewer in 1728.

He married first, Martha Lovel on 09 March 1720/1, in Barnstable.^[1] Martha was born in May 1697 in Barnstable, the daughter of James and Mary (Lombard) Lovel.^[2] She died 06 Dec 1732 in Sandwich.^[3]

He married second, 14 Jun 1733, Margaret Fish. He died intestate. The inventory of his estate was taken 22 Feb 1745, and was presented by widow Margaret. She was appointed guardian to the younger children 14 Mar 1745; James chose Peleg Laurence of Sandwich as his guardian, 03 Jun 1746. Land was set off Dec. 11, 1753, "to the eldest children, James, Mary, Rebeckah and Martha," and "to the five younger children, Eleazer, Bethia, Mehitable, Jane and John."^[4]
