Sir Alexander Falconer 1st Lord of Halkerton was the son of Alexander (Falconer) Falconer VIIth of Halkerton (abt.1575-abt.1645) and Agnes (Carnegie) Falconer (-1634).

Marriage and Family
He married by contract dated 2 April 1619,[1] Ann (Lindsay) Falconer (abt.1602-), only child of John, 9th Lord Lindsay of the Byres. They were separated in 1627, when both appeared before the Privy Council.

Falconar of Halkerton, by Paul McKee Gifford, mentions:[3]

  • pg. 12; lists his marriage contract to Anna Linsay, dated either on the 2nd of April 1690 and that she was the daughter of John Lindsay, 9th Lord Lindsay of the Byres.
  • pg. 13; mentions that on 31 May 1643, he was admitted to the burgess roll of Aberdeen.[4]
  • pg. 14; mentions his rise and influence in the Scottish government was recognized on 20 December 1646, when he was created Lord Falconer of Halkerton, with destination to himself and his heirs-male whatsoever.[5]


Alexander was elevated to the peerage on 20th December 1646 taking the title "1st Lord Falconer of Halkerton".
