Arnold Walter Lawrence (1900-1991) was the illegitimate son of Sir Thomas Robert Tighe Chapman, 7th Bt. and Sarah ( Junner ) Lawrence.[1], born at 2 Polstead Road, Oxford.
He was the youngest of five sons born to Thomas Chapman and Sarah ( Junner ) Lawrence (1861–1959). He wrote widely on the subject of Greek architecture and sculpture as well as on fortifications in west Africa.
He was the model for the statue of "Youth" (1920), sculpted by Kathleen Scott, at the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge
He married Barbara Innes Thompson in January 1925 at West Ham, Essex, England
Arnold Walter Lawrence was a Fellow of the British Academy.
He died Aged 90 in 1991 at Devizes, Wiltshire, England.
