BURIAL
This is not a gravestone. It appears to be a memorial marker provided through the Macon County Historical Society. There is a sign, photographed for the main page of Parker Cemetery, that says "believed buried here". It is unclear when the marker was created, but clearly after 1921 and most probably much later. The source information for this marker may or may not be correct. Similar markers in this cemetery have known errors.
LOVELADY, WM. H. ET. AL. VS. LOVELADY, ASA., CHANCERY, 1852.
The following Bill is dated about 1843:
THE BILL OF WILLIAM H. LOVELADY, Thomas A. Lovelady, Ezekial Carnahan and wife Nancy, Susanah G. Lovelady, Mary J. Lovelady and Elizabeth, Sam'l G. and Darkas A. Lovelady by their Brother and next friend William H. Lovelady, all of Jackson Co. TN against Asa Lovelady, Administrator of John Lovelady, dec'd, of the same county and Jessee Parker and Peter Shrum his securities, of Macon Co. TN, also Jeremiah Gammon of Smith Co. TN.
(reference profile of father, John Lovelady, for entire transcript)
On motion John Lovelady was appointed as administrator of the estate of John Parker, deceased, who qualified according to law, with Jeremiah Gammon his security, in the sum of $500. This occurred [Smith County] on Feb. 10, 1817. On Friday, May 16, 1817, Henry Shrum sold to Jeremiah Gammon a tract of three acres of land in Smith County.
From these neighbor's names [in 1830], we would decide that Jeremiah Gammon lived somewhere on the waters of Dixon's Creek, which rises in the extreme south side of Macon County, flows southwestward through the present Trousdale County, and empties into the Cumberland near Dixon Springs, in Smith County.
