Oliver Dodge was born on July 22, 1785 in Horton Twp., Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a son of Caleb Dodge and Isabella Loveless[1]
He moved to Upper Newport, Hants County circa 1817. The 1817 Census of Newport Township, Hants County lists Oliver Dodge with one male between 16 and 50, one boy [Albro], one woman [Tryphosa].
The 1838 Census of Newport Township, Hants County lists Oliver Dodge as a yeoman with three males between six and fourteen [William, Samuel, Gardner], one male over the age of 14 [John], 3 females over the age of 14 [Susannah, Hannah, wife Tryphosa], total eight in the family (counting himself).
The 1861 Census of Brooklyn, Hants County lists Flosey [sic] Dodge with one single male age 30 to 39 [Gardner], one single female age 40 to 49 [Susanna], and one widowed female age 60 to 69 [Tryphosa], total 3 in the household.
The 1871 census of Brooklyn, Hants Co. lists "Frafoy", widow, 78 with Susanna, 50 and Garner [sic], teacher, 40.
Oliver was buried at Dodge Burying Ground, Newport Landing, Nova Scotia. His memorial has links to those of family members.[2]
