Biography

Abiel Metcalfe was born November 15, 1709 in Falmouth, Massachusetts^[1] to Joseph and Abial Metcalf.^[2]

She married James Fitch November 22, 1733 in Lebanon, Connecticut.^[3][4] They had at least eight children, born in Salisbury and Lebanon, Connecticut^[4]

Abiel's death occurred before February 2, 1778 when a deed was recorded in which William Fitch of Pawlet, his sister, Rachel, and her husband Robert Woodworth, and Moses Marsh, probably widower of his sister Sybil, of Canaan, Connecticut, sold property in Salisbury that had belonged to "our honored mother", Abiel Fitch, late of Green Bush. Probably brothers Jabez, John and James had died by this time.^[4]
