Hey Karen,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards .

If you need to describe an event, heirloom or a location relevant to your research, try Free Space Profiles .

If you run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving these unfortunate situations.

A project of note is the Global Family Reunion check it out at Global Family Reunion.

Questions? Ask via my profile page. Mags

Welcome to our community, Karen. I will say that your response is an original one. :)

The more ancestors you add, the more likely cousins will find you and help out.

Our Honor Code, G2G forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.

Please consider stopping by the Tree House to introduce yourself.

VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

Thank you for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only ONE profile per person.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!

Hello-

I'm interested in improving my family tree, so I'm here. Along the way, I found out that there is no way to find the boundaries of my family tree without shaking a few other trees, too. It's almost like they are all connected, or something...

I wish all of this was as easy as matching a name to a rough date to a general location. But so many propagating errors have made it difficult to pick the 200 year old clerical error from a legitimate connection. And let's not even mention the relatives who managed to live entirely without paper trails. I guess they didn't have iPhones?

So, I'm here, working on mine, but I also understand that what is mine is yours in this space and that a delicate hand is essential.

I also like pizza and watching movies. Sometimes at the same time.

And I see you uploaded a GEDCOM! :)

Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
