There are some references starting with a county chistory that claim that this samuel Hunter with wife Mary had son Lemual W. Hunter, born 1853 in Bond Co.. Lemuel says his parents born in IL and samuel would be near 60 so unlikely. There is another Lemuel W. Hunter in the graveyard (Mt Giliad) athis is the right age but no parents identified. This samuel hunter fits all the charactersneeded:
Both born NC or TN.
Both came to Bond Co., IL in 1817/1818.
Both disappeared from Bond Co. at same time my samuel arried in MO for Bond Co.
, IL.
Both have a brother Thomas who was a vetern of the War of 1812.
Others members of this family went to Johnson Co., Texas at same time as Samuel and were his neighbors.
Several Hunter including John Hunter Sr., John Hunter Jr., and Joseph Hunter on adjoining or close farms.
My conclusion is that they are the same.
