Clementia Minchin was born in Ireland.

Clementia Mary Anne Minchin was born in about 1847. She was the daughter of John Minchin and Clementina Holmes.

She was baptised on 14 September 1848 at Templeharry Church, Co Moneygall, Ireland[1].

Her mother Clementina passed away in 1853 and her father John remarried in 1854.

In the England and Wales Census of 1871 Clementine Minchin (aged 22) was recorded as working as a Governess in the household of Edward Hodgkinson (59) in Plumtree, Harworth, Worksop, Nottinghamshire & Yorkshire, England. Also in the household was Alice Hodgkinson (10), Mary Hodgkinson (7 ) and three servants.

Her father John emigrated from England to New Zealand in 1874 with his third wife and started a new family.

By 1881 Clementia Minchen [sic] was about 32 years of age. She was recorded in the household of her uncle Edward Corker Minchin (aged 60), his wife Sarah A B Minchin (58), their son John B Minchin (32) and granddaughter Rebecca Stoney (6). They lived at 3 Bayshill Terrace, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.

Occupation: Companion

In 1891 Clementina Minchin (aged about 37) was recorded as a visitor in the household of John Pepper (48), his wife Louisa Pepper (47) and their daughter Margaret H Pepper (13) at Lower Clopton, Shipston on Stour, Warwickshire. Also in the household were three other individuals.

By the time of the UK Census of 1901 Clementia Minchin (aged 43) may have been visiting the Butler household in Woolstone, Berkshire, England.

In the UK Event Dated 1911 Clamantia M A Minchin (aged 50) was recorded as a Visitor in the household of Reverend Albert Jordan (56) and Frances Amelia Jordan (45) in Llanbadarn-fawr, Radnorshire, Wales. Aged about 50 and single.

Clementia was recorded in the 1929 Bedford Electoral Rolls at Chaucer Road.

On 27 December 1930 her half sister Mary Jane Minchin died at Somerset.

She passed away in 1931 at the age of 84, unmarried[2].

Clementia was buried at Foster Hill Road Cemetery, Bedford, Bedford Borough, Bedfordshire, England[4].

Her will was proved on 25 January 1932 at Bristol to Dora Mason, spinster[5]. Effects: £529 18s. 3d.
