Biography

Birth and Family

Rebecca Clark (Richardson) Hill was born on 28 Feb 1696, in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and Christened on 15 Aug 1697. She was the daughter of John Richardson II and Rebecca (Clark) Hill Richardson.

Marriage

Rebecca married Eleazer Hill on 18 Aug 1712, in her hometown of Medfield, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Together, John and Rebecca had five children during the years of their marriage.

Rebecca passed away on 14 Feb 1738, in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Last record of Eleazar and Rebecca was 10 Jul 1777, when they acknowledged a deed.^[1][2]

Errors to avoid

The Richardson Memorial says that her second husband was John Peck. There was a John Peck who married a Rebecca Richardson at Attleboro 26 May 1724. This Rebecca was the daughter of William and Rebecca (Vinton) Richardson. The Richardson Memorial incorrectly states this daughter never married. In fact she's named in her father's will as Rebecca Davis (her second married name). John Peck died in 1730.

Rebecca's mother, Rebecca (Clark) Richardson, as a widow had married Eleazer Hill, Sr the man who would become Rebecca's father-in-law, . So, there are two separate marriages for Rebecca Richardson marrying Eleazer Hill: one in 1703 and one in 1712. Its common for the mother and daughter to become confused, and Rebecca, the daughter is often shown to have died in 1738/39, which is actually when her mother died.
