Harman Atwood is Notable.

By the 1600 will of John Ownsted, sergeant of the carriages to Queen Elizabeth, Harman Atwood was to receive two thirds of the manor of Stanstead after the death of John Ownsted's wife, Margaret. Ownsted's sisters, Anne Knepp and and Joyce Holloway were to have the other one third. By 1618 Harman had acquired the other third by purchase. He died in 1653 leaving Stanstead to his fourth son, Harman. [1]

Harman died in 1653 and was buried at All Saints, Sanderstead on 15 December. [2]

It cites Local (Surrey) History Records, vol. viii, 1969, published by The Bourne Society which records the arms of Harman Atwood, (d.1653 aged 83), on a slab in All Saints, Sanderstead, as: Quarterly, 1 and 4, Gules a lion rampant Argent between three acorns Or (Atwood); 2 and 3, Sable three curry-combs Argent handles Or (Harman (or Harmond according to Parkers Heraldry), Oxfordshire).
