Biography

Robert and his wife Ann were probably born about 1780. They were born in Ireland. Their sons Matthew and Robert were born in Ireland about 1800 and 1801, so they must have emigrated to Nova Scotia after that. Their son Jeremiah was born in Nova Scotia in 1825. To have this span between youngest and oldest children, Ann would need to be born between 1784 and 1779. Perhaps Robert was about the same age.

Robert and Ann were living in Parrsboro Township, Kings County, Nova Scotia as farmers in the 1838 census. Two other men over 14 were living there also. At some point this area became known as Pettigrew Settlement.

Robert died in 1841. They had at least one grandson named Robert and 2 granddaughters named Ann.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
