Biography

Thomas Faunce, son of Thomas Faunce and Jane (Nelson) Faunce, was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on March 18, 1687.[1][2][3] [4]

Thomas married, first, Sarah Ford, in Plymouth on July 12, 1711.[5][3][4] Thomas and Sarah had the following children, all born in Plymouth:

  1. Hannah, b. April 26, 1713,[6][3] d. February 21, 1716[3]
  2. Sarah, b. February 23, 1716[6][3] She had a son Jabez Faunce on 31 October 1736 in Plymouth.

Thomas's first wife, Sarah, died on either March 3, 1716 or August 8, 1717.[3]

Thomas married, second, Lydia Barnaby, in Plymouth on May 29, 1718.[7][3][4] Thomas and Lydia had the following children, all born in Plymouth:

  1. James, b. April 6, 1719[6][3][4]
  2. Thomas, b. April 10, 1721[6][3][4]
  3. Ruth, b. June 24, 1723,[6][3][4] m. 1st after March 14, 1740/1 (intentions published at Plymouth) Amos Rider,[4] m. 2d November 2, 1749 Paul Doten at Plymouth[4]
  4. Barnaby, b. June 10, 1726,[6][3][4] d. June 18, 1728 in Plymouth[6][3][4]
  5. Seth, b. July 30, 1729,[6][3][4] d. August 4, 1729 in Plymouth[6][3][4]
  6. Peleg, b. December 20, 1730[6][3][4]
  7. Susan/Sarah,[6][3] d. before March 6, 1749[4]
  8. Lydia, m. April 26, 1750 Reuben Bisbee (or Besse) of Plympton,[3]

Thomas died before June 16, 1749 when son James was appointed as administrator of Thomas' estate.[4][8]

His inventory was taken on 21 June 1749 in Plymouth. It includes items that were his daughter's, Ruth Rider.[9]

In 1750, an account of his estate was recorded, paying debts and dividing the remainder among the children, James Faunce, Thomas Faunce, Peleg Faunce, Ruth Doten, wife of Paul Doten of Plymouth, and Lydia Faunce. [10]
