Colonel Cyprian Howe served with 1st Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Cyprian was born in Marlborough 29 March 1726, the son of John Howe and Thankful Bigelow.

He married Dorothy Howe, daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Brigham) Howe on 29 Nov 1750. She died of smallpox on 30 May 1764. He married second Mary Williams on 6 Feb 1766. He had four children with each wife.

  1. Martha, born 3 Sep 1751, married 6 Dec Benjamin Sawin.
  2. Jabez, born 14 Apr 1753
  3. Katy, born 28 Dec 1757, married Joel Birtham
  4. Phebe, born 31 Jan 1762, married Thomas Loring

Children with Mary:

  1. Dorothy, born 18 Jul 1767, married Joshua Burnham
  2. Mary, born 12 May 1770, married Benjamin Sawin
  3. John, born 20 Sep 1773
  4. Henry, born 6 Oct 1779

He kept a public house in Marlborough. He was the Captain of a company that marched to Cambridge 19 Apr 1775. He continued in the Army and rose to become a colonel in the militia.[1]
