Biography

Sheppard "Shelvy" Brown was born on 28 Oct 1813 at Nashville, Washington County, Tennessee. He is a son of Jacob Brown and Nancy Ann Thompson.

His story is chronicled in "The Ancestors and Descendants of Abraham Brown (1844-1928)" by Wilma Brown Henderson ^[1]

Moved to Illinois around 1830 when his father did.

Married Mary Ann Brown about 1844 in Illinois. Do not know if Brown is her maiden name also. Children:

5. Armantha Brown (1858)
6. Mary Brown (1860)
7. Almona Brown (1863)

He moved his family from Vermilion County, Illinois to Bates County, Missouri in 1869 and purchased a 160-acre farm.

Died 09 Nov 1896, buried in Round Prairie Cemetery, Bates County. ^[2]
