Biography

Alfred Mason Douglass was born February 23, 1791 in Cages Bend, Sumner, Tennessee to William Douglass and Margaret Stroud Douglass. [1] Alfred Mason Douglass died about 28 Jun 1822 in Cages Bend, Sumner, Tennessee. [2] He was 31 years old. The cause of his death is not known however his will was signed 20 June, 1822, He left three small children who were raised by their mother Cherry Ferrell Douglass.

Marriage

He married Cherry Ferrell in 1817 and they had three children. [3]

He died in 1822 and was buried in the family cemetery on his plantation near Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee.

In the name of God Amen: I Alfred M. Douglass of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee, being in my right mind do make this my last will and Testament. First that all my just debts be paid at the directive of my Executor and Executrix and the balance of the estate be equally divided between my wife Cherry and my three children James Douglass, Lucy and William. I nominate and appoint Burtis W. Ferrell Executor with my wife Cherry Douglass Executrix. In witness _ I have set my hand and seal, in the year of our Lord June 20 1822.
