Biography

The son of Adam Wagner Jr and Martha (Ritter) Wagner, Samuel Ritter was born in West Beaver Township, Pennsylvania[citation needed] in 1850, residing there with his family.[1][2]

He married Oceola Agnes Arnold (1856-1897), the daughter of John A. Arnold and Catherine Sanders, marrying in Snyder County, Pennsylvania on July 6, 1873[citation needed] and having seven known children together:

  1. Henry A. Wagner (1875-1935)
  2. Isaac Elmer Wagner (1877-1935)
  3. Mary Elizabeth (Wagner) Gordon (1879-1962)
  4. Herbert S. Wagner (1884-1959)
  5. Matilda E. Wagner (1885-)
  6. Clayton Milton Wagner (1890-1961)
  7. John Adam Wagner (1893-1959)

They made their home in West Beaver Township, where Samuel worked as a laborer.[3] Widowed in 1897, in 1900, Samuel lived with his children in Washington Township, Pennsylvania, farming.[4]

Samuel remarried in 1902, marrying Cora Ellen Paige (1880-1961), the daughter of Daniel Paige and Catherine Fogel, marrying in Freeburg, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1902[5] and having three known children together:

  1. Lera Alvesta Wagner (1902-)
  2. Murray Roosevelt Wagner (1904-1970)
  3. Homer Wilson Wagner (1911-)

They made their home in Perry Township, Pennsylvania, where Samuel worked as a farm laborer.[6] By 1920, they had returned to West Beaver Township, where his daughter worked at a shirt factory.[7]

Samuel Wagner passed away at the age of 72 and is buried at Union Cemetery in Troxelville, Pennsylvania.[8]
