Marriage records from Lincoln County, North Carolina show that John Keener married Elizabeth Keller (or Kellen) on December 2, 1805. Most records indicate that this was his only wife.
Other records indicate that he may have married Sarah Sallie Porter, daughter of John Porter, in White County, Tennessee shortly after he moved there. This is because he is listed as one of the heirs in John Porter's will settlement. If this is true, all of the known children of John Keener would be the offspring of Sarah Sallie Porter. This could also explain the age difference in the 1820 Census.
