KENDALL, John Wilkerson, (father of Joseph Morgan Kendall), a Representative from Kentucky; born in Morgan County, Ky., June 26, 1834; attended the common schools and Owingsville Academy; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1854 and commenced practice in West Liberty, Ky.; prosecuting attorney of Morgan County 1854-1858; during the Civil War served as first lieutenant and adjutant of the Tenth Kentucky Confederate Cavalry; member of the State house of representatives 1867-1871; Commonwealth attorney for the thirteenth judicial district 1872-1878; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress and served from March 4, 1891, until his death in Washington, D.C., on March 7, 1892; interment in Barber Cemetery, West Liberty, Morgan County, Ky.[1]
