Biography

Born in Hackney, London, England on 20 March 1872. He was the son of Martin Taylor (1838-1890) and Emily Wheeler (b. 1846). Percy had five known siblings:

  1. Frederick Martin (b. 1867)
  2. Henry William (b. 1868)
  3. George Hardcastle (1874-1955) -- married Minnie Talbot, the sister of Percy's future wife Clara, in 1901
  4. Walter Guy (b. 1882)
  5. Emily Catherine (~1885-1960)

In 1881, the family lived in Camberwell. [1] In 1891, he lived with his recently widowed mother, siblings, and maternal grandmother in Camberwell. [2] In 1901, the family is found in Norwood, Lambeth. [3]

Percy was married in Christ Church, Lambeth in May 1906 to a widow named Clara Alice Davis, née Talbot. [4]

In the 1911 census, Clara was living with her parents in Camberwell (Percy likely at sea), where she described herself as an actress and concert artiste. The couple later lived at 9 Fentiman Road, Clapham, London. It is not believed that they had children.

Clara was remarried on 24 August 1918 to Albert Grafton Pearce (1869-1946), also a musician and concert artiste, and moved to Weston-super-Mare, Somerset where she died in 1957.
