Biography
- Elizabeth de Vere, daughter of John de Vere, Knight, 7th Earl of Oxford, by Maud daughter of Bartholomew de Badlesmere, Knight, Lord Badlesmere, married first Hugh de Courtenay, Knight, K.G.. [1] She married 2nd as his 3rd wife, by papal dispensation dated 4 May 1351, John de Mowbray, Knight, 3rd Lord Mowbray (no known surviving issue). [2] Sir John de Mowbray died of the plague at York, 4 Oct. 1361, and was buried at the church of the Friars Minor, Bedford, Bedfordshire. [3] Elizabeth married for her 3rd husband, before 26 Nov. 1368, William de Cossington, Knight. [4] She died the 14th or 16th of Aug. 1375. [5]
- Her father was born 1311, and might not have married much before 1330. [6]
