Esaias Preble was Captain of the 1st York company, Col. Ebenezer Sawyer's 1st York County regiment of Massachusetts militia in 1776 and Captain in Col. Jacob Gerrish's regiment in 1778. ^{[1] [2]}

Esaias Preble was born on April 26, 1742 in York, York, Massachusetts (District of Maine), son of Samuel Preble (1699–1746) and Sarah Muchmore (1703– ). ^[3]

Esaias (23) and Lydia Ingraham (16) were married in 1766. Lydia was born on March 28, 1749 in York, York County, Maine. She was the daughter of Edward Ingraham and Lydia (Holt) Ingraham.
