Date of birth is based on the Errata to Stocking's work, but he said 1750, which is the year for Jonathan's birth given by Stocking and not corrected in Errata. Since there is a four year gap between Jonathan and Sarah, I'm putting his birth there until there is better proof otherwise. Note by Scott Carles

"The exposed situation of the eastern coast, offering many temptations to the unscrupulous or disaffected, to engage in illicit traffic, and exposing others to the depredations of hostile vessels, the militia were frequently called out; and a force enlisted for the purpose, was regularly employed for guarding and protecting the coast. In the latter service, a company was again raised by Jacob Ludwig, Capt ; William Farnsworth and Jacob Winchenbach, Lieutenants; Jonathan Nevers, Ensign; Caleb Howard and Godfrey Bornheimer, Sergeants; Peter Hilt and Andrew Knowlton, Corporals; with 18 privates, who went down to Machias in the spring, and with some difficulty returned by water at Christmas."

"The first permanent settlement [of Nobleboro] was probably made at Damariscotta Mills, as early as 1830, by Wm. Vaughan. Here be erected mills in 1830 and introduced many settlers. Elliot Vaughan, Esq. and Jas. Noble. Esq. were with him. Who most of these settlers were we are unable to say. For most of the following; facts we are indebted to A. Judson Merrill, the local historian. John Rollins, came from N. H. to work on Mills at the Falls, 1730. Benj. Blackstone was here prior to 1750. Fred’k Hatch settled on West Neck, in 1758. Thos. Merrill, from Stratham, N. H., settled the Merrill farm, in 1768 or 69. On East Neck Andrew Knowlton and Jonathan Oliver, located after the Revolutionary War, in which they served; Elijah Dunbar (about 1780) and Jesse Dunbar (in 1703), came from Bridgewater; Elnathan Palmer Jr. and Elisha, his brother settled here, (their father had located on the Back Meadow road); Jonathan Chapman was on East Neck before 1800. John Linscott settled on West Neck."
