Mary was born in 1733 and died in 1808.
Mary Shepherd m. John Lane, the son of Alexander Lane.
Y-chromosome DNA evidence indicates that Osborn Lane, not a son of John Lane and Mary Shepherd matches other descandants of the Joseph Lane and Patience McKinnie. This is biological proof of a connection between these two Lane families. 1785 SC colonial plat book for John Grier, NE side of Pee Dee River, adj to Mrs. Lain. (Although Osborn may have married before 1770, he didn't die until 1840. It is very unlikely that his wife would be listed on a deed in 1785. More likely to be his mother.)
