Biography

European Aristocracy
Sibyl Neufmarché was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Sibyl Neufmarché[1]

Sibyl Neufmarché was born in 1096[2] [3] or circa 1090s or about 1 July 1100 in Aberhonwy, Breconshire, Wales.

Sibyl was the daughter of Bernard de Neufmarché, the conqueror of Becon, and his welsh wife, Nest.[1]

Sibyl had siblings:

  1. Philip, who had apparently died previous to 1121.
  2. Mahel, however, Nest had previously declared that their heir Mahel was not her husband's son, so he was consequently disinherited and Sibyl became their heir.[1]

Between 10 April and 29 May, 1121, Miles of Gloucester was granted by Royal Charter, Sibyl with all the possessions of her father and of her mother, to wife.[1] They were married at Llanthony Priory, Gloucestershire, England. Miles was the son of Walter of Gloucester who was one of the king's favourite officers.[1]

Sibyl and Miles had children:

  1. Berthe Fitzroger
  2. Lucy De Gloucester

Sibyl died in Gloucester, England, in 1143,[3] [2] or after 1143.

Sibyl was buried in Llanthony Priory, Gloucester, England.

Odd that the death date and place is the same as her husband’s, who was killed in a hunting accident according to his biography
