James Stonewall Earp was born 08/29/1893 in Coffee County TN. His father was Henry Clayborn Earp, and his mother was Thankful Elizabeth ( Bettie) Painter.

He married Georgia Biggs on 10/29/1913 in Davidson County TN. Stonewall was age 21, and Georgia was age 16.

Stonewall Earp is my maternal grandfather. He and my maternal grandmother Georgia had seven children. Helen Aline Earp Binkley 1914. William Henry Earp 1916. Lucy Louise Earp Meadows Elliott 1918. Margaret Earp Jernigan Hunt 1920. James Stonewall Earp Jr. 1921. Ruby Earp 1924. Katherine Lee Earp Binkley Waddey Biggs 1926.

1910 US Census TN. Davidson county shows Stonewall in family of origin at age 17. His father, Henry C. Earp HOH age 59. Stonewalls mother Bettie Earp age 55. All were born in TN.

1920 TN. Census shows James as male, white, married, age 27. Georgia as female, white, married, age 23. Children in the home, Hellena A. (Helen A.) age 6 William H. age 4, Lucy L, age 2, Margaret U.C. age 3 months. The family residence was 1606 Delta Ave. Nashville TN.

Draft Registration Card 1917- 1918. Date stamped 06/05/1917. Shows Stonewall living at 1531 Hamberg Street, Nashville TN. He has a wife and 2 children which acording to the date, should be Helen Aline and William Henry. He is a natural born citizen. Date of birth 8/29/1892. Works as laborer . His physical description is med. height. med build, brown hair, blue eyes, has all his limbs and is not disabled.

According to a firsthand verbal account from Helen Earp Binkley, my aunt and daughter of Stonewall and Georgia, Stonewall was murdered in downtown Nashville during a bar brawl. This story is confirmed by his death Certificate.

On 01/04/1949, Stonewall was pronounced D.O.A. at Nashville General Hospital. cause of death is listed as shock from a gunshot wound to his left chest. Death is listed as a Homicide. Informant: Mrs. Helen Binkley.( Helen is his oldest child.) Burial to be at Mt. Olivet by funeral directors, Bracy-Welsh.
