Samuel Freeman, April 12, 181 2, in Sumner,

Me. ; m. Eliza Ann Stowell of S. Paris, Jan- uary, 1835, who d. September, 1836; and 2d, Jane Ann Davis of Sidney, who d. Jan. 17, 1862 ; and 3d, Emily M. Sanborn of Bangor, March, 1871.

The above Olive had other children of whose names we have no memoranda. The son mentioned, named for his ma- ternal grandfather, d. Feb. 3, 1875. This son, by dili- gence in business, good judgment, and integrity, amassed a large property, which he used to promote the objects that commended themselves to his regard, and by will made liberal provision for the future of institutions and charities that were near his heart. Gen. Samnel Erecman Hersey was a resi- dent of Bangor ; prominent in ' public affairs ; representative several years; of the State Senate, 1868-9; member of the Executive Council, 1852-3 ; and, at the time of his decease, a member of Congress.
