Elisha Adams Jones, "Ad" was born on 17 Oct 1858 to Horatio Jones and Antoinette Louisa (Ellis) Jones in Medway, Massachusetts. [1][2]
Ad grew up with his parents in Medway where his father farmed. [3][4]
On 12 Aug 1884, Elisha "Ad" married Carrie Louise Higson in Amherst, Massachusetts. [5]
Some time after their marriage, Elisha moved his family to New Brunswick, New Jersey to work at the Agricultural College there. It was there that his son Harold was born. [6]
Later, the family moved back to Amherst and Elisha worked at the Amherst Agricultural College, now known as the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.[7]
By 1910 Elisha had again changed his place of employment to New Canaan, Connecticut. [8][9] He was employed by Lewis Henry Lapham, one of the founders of Texaco, to manage Lapham's summer estate. Called Waveny, the estate is now a park owned by the city of New Canaan. [10]
Elisha's wife Lessie died in 1929 [11] after which he retired from his job at Waveny. He then traveled to California, spending time with his son Harold and Harold's family. It was while he was in California that he passed away on 28 Oct 1936. [12] He is buried next to Lessie at the West Cemetery in Amherst. Massachusetts. [13]
