Biography
James T. Brown was born in 1812, in Caswell county, North Carolina, a son of Thomas Brown and Sarah "Salley" Morris. On February 17, 1831, in Stokes county, North Carolina, James married Elizabeth "Bidda" Massey, born 1814, in Caswell county, a daughter of John Massey and Nancy Hastings. Elizabeth's brother, Nathan Massey, married James' sister, Mary "Polly" Brown. [1]
James and Elizabeth became the parents of as many as ten children. He moved his family to Carrol county, Tennessee, where he was listed as a farmer. James became ill with pneumonia and succumbed to the disease after three months, in October, 1849. Elizabeth (Massey) Brown survived her husband and died in 1880, in her mid-sixties. Their Find A Grave memorials do not identify where they are buried. [3]
