- s/o Richard Anning & Mary Moore[1]
- hunted fossils with father and sister, helped support family after father died by continuing to hunt fossils with Mary
- apprentice Upholsterer
- Joseph died on 5th of July 1849 and was buried the churchyard of the parish church of Lyme Regis. He was buried in the same plot as 3 children who had died in infancy and his sister Mary. [2][3]
