Biography

André Roi was born on 15 Aug 1824 and was baptized the next day in Saint-François-d’Assise parish in Beaucevile, Bas-Canada. He was the son of Jean Roi and his wife Suzanne Rancour. Godparents at André's baptism were Pierre Rodrigue and Archangel Pierre Jacques.

At age 25 André, a farmer, married Marie Aline Latulippe on 25 Sep 1849 in Saint-François-d’Assise parish; the couple received a dispensation for the fourth degree of consanguinity. There were ten known children born into this marriage. André immigrated to the United States to live near some of his sons who had moved there earlier. "Andrew" Roy died at age 93 on 27 Sep 1917 in Fairfield, Somerset, Maine; he was buried in Waterville, Kennebec, Maine.
