Biography
Sarah was born in 1866. She is the daughter of Franklin Rominger and Mary Oliver.
Sally/Sallie (Rominger) Moffitt:
Will Moffitt was born in Randolph County, NC in 1860. This family moved to Mitchell County, NC sometime after the Civil War (before 1870) and lived on the Spanish Oak Mountain near Buladean, NC and other places in the surrounding area. Will married Sarah Emaline (or Evaline) Rominger about 1880. They lived in the Buladean, NC area for many years and they also lived on Tiger Creek, located in Carter County, TN.
Will spent most of life farming and doing blacksmith work. It has also been said that he would occasionally brew up a little moonshine for a snake bite and other medicinal purposes. He also hired out as a farm hand for Captain Nelson, who had a very large farm on Ripshin Mountain in Carter County, TN
Will married Sarah "Sallie" Evaline Rominger in about 1880. Sarah is said to be one half Cherokee Indian, but I have not been able to prove or disprove this claim. From looking at her photo she certainly appears to have Indian Features. She was born in Watauga County in 1867 and died in 1939, and is bured at Hampton, TN. Will died 6 Feb. 1950 and is buried at the Forbes Family Cemetary at Red Hill, NC.
