Her brother, James H. Foster, lived next door with his wife, Theresa A. (Willcoxon) and child.

Mary J. Foster first married Benjamin B. Nugent on Jan. 18, 1843, in Fort Bend Land District, Texas. (Texas, County Marriage Records, 1837-1965) He died in Texas.

Widowed, Mrs. Mary Jane Nugent married John Nottingham on May 17, 1857, officiated by James B. Box in Vernon Co., MO. John was born in 1836, to Dr. William Samuel and Susannah Collins Nottingham in Comanche Township., Clinton Co., IA. He died in 1859, in Houston, Harris Co., TX.
