Mary and Absolom married on 14 Oct 1849 in Putnam County, Indiana. ^[1]

In 1850, the Wrights lived in Floyd, Putnam, Indiana. The household included Absalom F. Wright, 25, born in Indiana, a carpenter, and his wife Mary, 23, b. Indiana.^[2]

(Mary “Polly” Chatham was mistakenly also included on her parents’ Census: In 1850, the Chatham family lived in Floyd, Indiana. The household included Josiah W. Chatham, (49), born in Tennessee, with $1700 in real estate; his wife Sarah, 49, born in North Carolina, who could not read or write; their seven children, all born in Indiana: Matilda, 25; Polly, 23; Anna, 20; Margaret, 17, in school; Francis, 12, in school; Sarah J., 9; and Amanda, 6.^[3])

In 1860, Mary (34) lived in Marion Township, Putnam, Indiana with Absalom (age 35) and children Josephine (9), Franklin P. (7), Edison A. (6), and Omar C. (1). All born in Indiana. Absalom was a farmer with real estate value of $1560, and personal assets of $1922. ^[4]

In 1870, the family lived on their farm in Floyd, Putnam, Indiana. Their real estate was valued at $5000, and personal assets at $1436. The household included Absalom, 45; Mary, 42; Edison, 15; Omar, 11; Robert, 8; Harriet, 6; Julia, 2; and Carrie, an infant. Edison, Omar, and Robert were in school. Edison also was a farm laborer. ^[5]

1880: lived in Floyd, Putnam, Indiana (55yrs) with wife Mary (52), children Robert B. (18), Hattie B. (16), Julia A. (12), Carrie M. (10), and a servant/farm laborer, Oliver P. Leach (18). All were born in Indiana. ^[6]

Mary had at least eight children, all born in Indiana. ^[7]

Mary (Chatham) Wright was born 24 June 1826 in Indiana, the daughter of Josiah Chatham and Sarah Jones. She passed away on 3 December 1919 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary died, a widow, at 92 years of age. At the time of her death, she was living at 5408 Charlotte Ave. Nashville, Tennessee with Omar Evans, probably a son in law or grandchild. She died of chronic bronchitis, which she had suffered from for at least three years. She was seen by her physician (Dr. J.M. Cullens of 4800 Charlotte Ave) on the day of her death. ^[8]

The house at 5408 Charlotte Ave, Nashville once stood very ner Richland Creek. The entire area is now a business district.^[9]

Mary was buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Green Castle, Putnam, Indiana, on December 5, 1919. ^[10]
