Mary was born in 1784. She was the daughter of John Christopher von der Heyde and Elizabeth Whitely. [1] Mary married Matthew Cowell in 1806. [2] In the 1841 census [3] she is living in Sherborne, Dorset, England with her husband, daugher, Emma (age 25) and son, Charles (age 19). In the 1851 census [4] she is living in Sherborne, Dorset, England with her husband and two daughters, Eliza (Elizabeth) (age 44) and Emma (age 35). In the 1861 census [5] Mary appears to be a widow, still living in Sherborne with her two daughters, Elizabeth (age 54) and Emma (age 45).
Mary passed away in 1868 according to the obituary in the Salisbury and Winchester Journal (published on 7 Mar 1868). [6]
