Biography

Daniel Salisbury was born in Rhode Island.

He was married to Penelope Green.[1]

In 1850 he had no occupation and was living in Georgetown, Madison, New York, United States. The household included E S Savage a merchant age 32, Emeline Savage age 29, Adaline A Savage age 4, Daniel Salisbury age 73, Penelope Salisbury age 69, and Thomas G Salisbury a clerk age 19. Daniel was born in Rhode Island, the rest in New York.[2]

He wrote his will 26 Jun 1852, leaving all of his property and estate to his beloved wife Nelly Salisbury for her use and support and for her to make donations to any of her children. Upon her death all remaining from the estate was to be shared equally among his children. Ann Salisbury, possibly his daughter, aged 24 at the time of his death, was a witness to the will.[3]

He died in 1855 and is buried in Erieville Cemetery, Nelson, Madison County, New York.[4] The date of death engraved on his headstone is 24 March 1855.

His will was proved in court and entered into probate on 26 Jun 1855 in Morrisville, Madison County, New York. Penelope Salisbury, widow of Daniel Salisbury, was named Executrix. Heirs and next of kin included Allen Cummings, Getty Cummings, Daniel Salisbury, Enoch S Savage, Eveline Savage, Anson Salisbury, Horace Swan, Polly Swan, Sally Heffron, and Hiel Salisbury, as well as Egbert M Scudder, Ogden H Scudder, Ambrose S Scudder, and Irving Durfee who were under the age of 21. Anson Salisbury was appointed special guardian for Egbert M Scudder, Ogden H Scudder, Ambrose S Scudder, and Irving Durfee in the matter of proving the will. [5]
