Darcus Howe link

Numerous sources on Darcus Howe say that he is a cousin of C L R James but I can't figure out the exact relationship. Examples:

1. "Howe's cousin, CLR James, or Uncle Nello ..."^[12]
2. "... James's great-nephew, Darcus Howe."^[13]
3. "Howe is a first cousin, once removed, of C L R James. Their common ancestor, Joshua Rudder, was Howe's great-grandfather, and James' grandfather. Rudder's children included sisters Florrie—Howe's maternal grandmother—and Bessie—James' mother—thereby rendering Lucille (Darcus's mother) and James first cousins."^[14]

Extract no. 3 implies that Howe's maternal grandmother was named Florrie Rudder. Other sources (such as Mendez et al., below) that say that Howe's mother was named Lucille Rudder. Put together, these imply that Lucille's parents had the same surname, which is puzzling.
