Biography
Douglas Douglas-Hamilton was born on 5 January 1814 and was baptised on 25 March 1814 at St George, Hanover Square, London, Westminster[1]. He was the fourth son of Augustus Barrington Price Powell Hamilton and his wife Maria Catherine Hyde.
He married Frances Ann Graves (the daughter of Hugh Ryves Graves and Charlotte Anne Marshall) on 14 February 1843.
They had the following children:
- Archibald Douglas-Hamilton (b. 26 Jan 1844, d. 19 May 1845)
- Idonia Charlotte Douglas-Hamilton (b. 16 Feb 1845, d. 26 Aug 1910)
- Douglas Charles Douglas-Hamilton (b. 1846)
- Patrick Douglas-Hamilton (b. 1847, d. b 1867)
- Alexander Hamilton Douglas-Hamilton (b. 7 Jan 1850, d. 10 Feb 1909)
- Robert Frederick Douglas-Hamilton (b. 1851, d. 4 Oct 1933)
- William Douglas Douglas-Hamilton (b. 1853, d. 5 Jul 1888)
- Maria Bertha Douglas-Hamilton ( b. 28 Mar 1853, d. 9 Dec 1925)
- Augustus Adolphus Douglas-Hamilton (b. 1854, d. 1855)
He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Lanarkshire Militia. He gained the rank of in 1858 in the South Down Rifles.
Douglas died on 3 February 1894 at age 80. He was buried on 6 February 1894 at Carlow, Ireland[2].
