The death occurred on Saturday last of Mrs. Elna B. Owen of Bon Street, Alexandra, after a long illness. The late Mrs. Owen was a woman of sterling qualities and a friend to all. Although her health of recent years had not been of the best, she always had a cheerful word for everyone with whom she came in contact. The funeral took place at the Alexandra cemetery on Sunday last. The Rev. S. Taylor officiated at the graveside, and Mr. A. E. Howell had charge of the funeral arrangements. Coffin bearers were-Messrs. T., R., and Ray Owen, R. Wilson, T. Ovendon, G. Maudouit, C. Lindham. Pall bearers - Messrs. G. E. Pearce, E. Collis, H. Clements, N. Raff, J. S. Mackrell, G. Loughron. He possessed straight-forward principles, thereby endearing himself to many people with whom he had business dealings. The funeral look place at the Alexandra cemetery on Sunday last. Rev. Paul conducted the burial service, and Mr. A. E. Howell had charge of the funeral arrangements. The coffin bearers were- Messrs. R. Wilson, G. and L. Lond, R. Owen, A. Jolley, T. Ovendon. Pall-bearers-Messrs E. E. Payne, G. A. Payne, I. Peters, R. Palmer, D. Stillman and E. Gilbee. The late Mr. Lond was born at Engelholm, Sweden. He came to Australia in sailing ship "Sea Mar" in 1870. The ship was on her maiden voyage from Boston.
