Biography

John Cudworth was baptised 25 Apr 1622, in Aller, Somerset, England^[1] and died in 1675.... He was a businessman of prominence and a member of the Girdlers Guild. Sometime before 1650, he married Mary Bushell, sister of Edward of Little St. Helens, London, where Mary died in 1670 and was buried. They had two children, John, born June 4, 1654, and a dau. Rebecca.

"John married (2) a sister of Samuel Brett of Romford, in Essex, who was a draper. They had Thomas, Samuel, and Benjamin.... John died in London in May 1675, and was buried at St. Helens, Bishopgate. John was well to do, and left his dwelling "The Angel" on Fish Street Hill as well as other property to his brother Dr. Ralph Cudworth'.
